Largest Exporting Countries in the World, 2021–2025
The largest exporting countries account for a significant share of global merchandise trade and play a central role in international supply chains, manufacturing, energy, technology and consumer goods flows. This dataset compares the world’s top 20 merchandise exporters from 2021 to 2025 using annual export values in US dollars, world export shares and yearly rankings.
Merchandise exports measure the value of physical goods sold abroad and provide a direct view of a country’s role in global trade. The world-share metric adds useful context by showing how much of total global merchandise exports each economy represents. Historical observations for the same top 20 economies are retained across the five-year period, making it easier to identify persistent export leaders, shifts in market share and changes in trade performance over time.
The largest exporting countries series is based primarily on World Trade Organization merchandise trade statistics, with annual values preserved in the published reporting units. It is suitable for ranked bar charts, trend analysis and comparisons of export concentration across major economies. Hong Kong, China and Singapore include substantial re-export activity under WTO reporting conventions, while quantity measures are not included because the dataset covers total merchandise trade rather than a single product category.
