Real GDP Growth Across the World’s 50 Largest Economies, 2021–2025
This dataset compares economic growth across the world’s 50 largest economies from 2021 to 2025. The country universe is defined using 2025 nominal GDP, providing a consistent group of major economies for comparison. For each country, the dataset includes annual real GDP growth, a five-year average growth rate, 2025 nominal GDP and several rankings that show how each economy performs relative to the other countries in the dataset.
Annual real GDP growth measures the change in economic output after adjusting for inflation, making it more useful for comparing underlying economic performance than nominal GDP growth. The five-year average provides a broader view of sustained growth by reducing the impact of unusually strong or weak individual years. A country with high growth in one year may rank strongly in the annual table but much lower when viewed over the full five-year period.
The dataset also includes 2025 nominal GDP as a measure of economic size. This makes it possible to distinguish between rapidly growing economies and rapidly growing major economies. The combination of economic size, annual growth and five-year average growth is particularly useful for ranked bar charts, combo charts and comparisons of short-term momentum against longer-term performance.
