Global Remittance Inflows by Country and Share of GDP
This dataset tracks personal remittances received by countries and economies from 2000 to 2025. It combines two World Bank indicators: remittance inflows measured in current US dollars and remittances received as a percentage of GDP. Together, these measures show both the absolute scale of remittance flows and their relative importance to each country’s economy.
The US dollar measure is useful for comparing the world’s largest remittance-receiving countries, while the GDP-share measure highlights economies where remittances play a particularly significant role in household income and national economic activity. A country may rank highly in total remittance inflows but have a relatively small GDP share, while a smaller economy may receive less in absolute terms but depend much more heavily on remittance income.
The dataset is structured at the country-year level and excludes regional and global aggregates, making it suitable for country rankings, historical trend analysis, bar charts, line charts, and cross-country comparisons. Values are based on World Bank World Development Indicators, and missing observations are preserved rather than estimated so that the dataset reflects the reporting coverage available from the original source.
